With the push toward the Oklahoma primary on June 26, Luther voters are learning more about the candidates. There are four candidates seeking to represent Luther and surrounding areas in the Oklahoma House in House District 96.
The legislative seat has been held by Arcadia Republican Lewis Moore. There are two Republican and two Democrat candidates seeking the part-time legislative job. Last election cycle in 2016, Moore cruised to a victory with no other names on the ballot after Moore won a candidacy challenge.
House District 96 Candidates
REPUBLICANS
Lewis Moore, Arcadia (incumbent)
Annette Williams, ChoctawDEMOCRATS
Kathy Wallis, Edmond
Maegan Heath, Harrah
Moore was first elected to the House 96 seat in 2009. The district represents east Edmond, as well as Arcadia, Jones, Choctaw, Harrah and Luther. This would be his last election for this house seat because of term-limits keeping house members to twelve years of service.
The second Republican on the primary ballot is Choctaw educator Annette Williams. The two will appear together on the June 26 ballot. The winner will proceed to the November General Election.
On the Democrat side, the candidates are Edmond attorney Kathy Wallis and Harrah educator Maegan Heath. The winner will face the Republican primary winner on the November ballot.
