Charles Donald Wilson was born in Oklahoma City, OK, on May 7, 1935, to Charley Wilson and Ertis (Bagwell) Wilson, and passed away in Edmond, OK on December 14, 2024.

He was raised on a farm near Luther, alongside his siblings Bobby and Dorothy. Charles attended Luther Schools graduating in 1953. Following high school, he attended Oklahoma State University where he received his bachelor’s degree, before enlisting in the Army. While in the Army, he met Joan Martin and they married in 1956. Together, they raised 4 children and were married for 68 years. They lived on a small farm and raised horses, sheep, pigs, and cattle.

While working full-time at Tinker Air Force Base, Charles attended Central State University in the evenings and completed his Master’s Degree. Following his retirement from Tinker, he often times could be found at the high school assisting Brent Earp with woodworking projects, driving a school bus, or substitute teaching. When not working, Charles was an avid bicyclist and prior to his accident in 2013, rode his bike many miles each day.

His love of sports was certainly obvious. Charles played sports in high school, then after having children of his own, coached all four of his children in baseball and softball from their beginning years to their high school years. He also coached his grandson’s baseball team. When not coaching, he enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, and one thing is for sure, he was a loyal and true Oklahoma State University cowboy fan. During football season, Charles could be found in the press box at Luther High School. He served as the PA announcer for the Luther Lions football team for approximately 30 years. He served on the Luther School Board and was a very active member of the Luther Community.
