Two of three Luther Public Schools’ principals are approved to continue on for another school year.
Elementary Principal Sheila Wilson and Middle School Principal Shawn Meek had their positions renewed for the 2018-2019 school year after the school board met for less than 30 minutes to evaluate the administrators.
The board also accepted the resignation of Mr. Jerry Martin, high school principal. Mr. Martin will serve through the end of this school year after serving two years in Luther.
Superintendent Barry Gunn said a plan to advertise for a new high school principal will be announced soon.
In other news, the board heard financial reports showing the district within its budget on the year.
And it seems the brutal flu season has hit. With about 50 students out in the elementary school on Monday, Principal Sheila Wilson rescheduled school Valentine’s parties for Friday, February 23 instead of this Wednesday. Some children have tested positive for both “Flu A” and “Flu B,” and strep infections are also prevalent. Mrs. Wilson reminds parents that students must be fever-free, without the aid of fever-reducing medicines, for 24 hours before returning to school.
