On day one of filing for four positions on the five-member Luther Board of Trustees, two candidates filed. Both are local business owners. One is an incumbent.
Carla Caruthers, who operates Back Door Cuts barber shop, was first elected to the Luther Town Board in 2021. Joking that she just now has the hang of the job, Caruthers decided to run again after some encouragement.
“I am running again after long thoughts of wanting to quit. It took 4 years to get used to the things that we do and the process. I spoke with family and friends and they said another 4 years and I can quit. I enjoy Luther and love watching it grow and see its upgrades,” Carla Caruthers.
Cindy Harris Baker recently moved to Luther and, in a short time, has devoted herself to her new community. Most recently, she opened a new store, CD Harris Design Company, at 122 S Main for her interior design business, plus a retail shop. She also recently stepped up to serve on the Luther Historical Society and the Luther Planning Commission.
Two days remain for filing. Candidates must have their completed packet turned in by 5 pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the Oklahoma County Election Board.
