Your Town, Your Voice, Your Opportunity: Run for the Luther Town Board of Trustees
Luther needs you. Whether you’ve raised concerns, supported local initiatives, or simply wondered about the future of our community, your perspective is vital. If you’ve ever considered stepping up to make a difference, the time is now.
Candidate filing for the 2025 Luther Town Board of Trustees election will take place February 3–5 at the Oklahoma County Election Board. This year, four of the five trustee positions are up for election, offering a rare opportunity to shape the future of our town. There are no term limits, and current trustees may file for re-election.
Why Serve?
In Luther’s form of government, the Board of Trustees serves as the backbone of town leadership. These five elected individuals guide the budget, operations, long-term strategic planning and more. Trustees work together to appoint a mayor from among their ranks and tackle critical issues like:
- Reviewing and approving town budgets and expenditures.
- Navigating zoning updates, growth planning, and community development.
- Ensuring the smooth operation of utilities, public works, parks, and public safety.
Yes, trustees sacrifice time—monthly meetings, special sessions, and ongoing preparation—but they gain an unparalleled understanding of how their town operates. From learning about Open Meetings and Open Records laws to overseeing projects like water quality and infrastructure repairs (ever wonder how a kid’s sippy cup can clog a sewer system?), the role is as rewarding as it is eye-opening.
Who Can Run?
To qualify as a candidate, you must:
- Reside within the town limits, roughly bordered by Indian Meridian, County Line Road, Coffee Creek, and 150th Street.
- Be a registered voter.

The Opportunity to Lead
This year’s election features one two-year term (to complete an unexpired term) and three four-year terms. On Election Day, April 1, 2025, the candidates receiving the most votes will secure these critical positions.
Luther’s trustees work alongside a dedicated team, including the town manager, clerks, police and fire departments, and public works team. Together, they ensure that essential services run smoothly while addressing pressing issues such as growth, infrastructure, and community needs.
Why You?
Luther is growing, and strong leadership is needed now more than ever. Your ideas, energy, and commitment can help ensure the town’s growth is guided by thoughtful decisions that benefit everyone. By serving on the board, you can be a voice for your neighbors, an advocate for progress, and a steward of Luther’s future.
