BUSINESS SERIES | Britni Davis Balances Fowl Mouth Farm and Colorful Expressions

When Britni Davis and her husband, Jerrod, moved to Luther, Oklahoma, in 2017, they envisioned a quiet country life where they could raise their children with plenty of space to roam. What they didn’t expect was their journey would lead to a thriving farm business, a growing creative enterprise, and deep connections within the community.

From Five Chickens to a Farm

Britni always wanted a farm, but Jerrod, a furbearer biologist for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, wanted to settle in first before bringing home livestock. Fate had other plans–the previous owners of their new home left behind five chickens, and Britni dove headfirst into learning everything she could.

“I’m terrible at math,” she jokes, “but I quickly became an expert in chicken math. Five chickens plus six more somehow equaled fifty!”

That was just the beginning. Foul Mouth Farm was soon established, growing from a handful of chickens to over a hundred free-ranging birds across their nine-acre property. The Davis family now hatches and sells Silkies, Olive Eggers, and Marans (Black Copper and Blue Copper) chickens, as well as Royal Palm turkeys and guinea fowl.

They’ve built a loyal customer base in Luther and beyond, with Luther Hardware and Lumber even stocking their chickens seasonally. More than just selling birds, Britni prides herself on educating first-time poultry owners. “We’ve made mistakes along the way, and we want to help others avoid them,” she says. “If someone buys from us, they aren’t on their own. We’re always happy to answer questions.”

A Name with a Personality

So, what’s behind the name Fowl Mouth Farm?

“Well, when our daughter was little, we kept our language pretty clean–except when we were working on the farm,” Britni laughs. “These birds are always doing something ridiculous! We’d find ourselves using some ‘colorful expressions’ outside. The name just fit.”

From Farm to Face Painting

As a Sign Language Interpreter, Britni is used to expressing herself visually–but between her career, running a farm, and raising Teagan (8) and Tate (2), she realized she needed a creative outlet. She had always been artistic, and recently, she turned that passion into a second business, Colorful Expressions. Launched just a few months ago, Colorful Expressions has two parts: face painting for events and mobile paint parties. “I paint at birthday parties, festivals, and large events, and I’ll be at the Guthrie Spring Market, Rt. 66 Balloon Fest, and the Luther Pecan Festival this year,” she said.

For those looking for a more hands-on experience, Britni brings the art studio to birthday parties, team-building events, or just a fun time with friends. She provides step-by-step painting instruction for groups of all ages and offers paint kits for at-home creativity.

One upcoming event is particularly close to her heart. On March 15, Britni will host a fundraiser paint night at Jess’s Haven, a Luther-based nonprofit dedicated to rescuing unwanted horses and donkeys. A portion of ticket sales will go directly toward animal care.

Britni Davis has built not just two businesses but a life she loves in Luther–one that blends farm life, creativity, and community.
