Talk of the Town Big Band Orchestra to Open Arcadia Round Barn Spring Concert Series

ARCADIA, OK – The sights and sounds of the big band era will fill the air on Sunday, March 30, from 2-4 p.m., as Talk of the Town, Oklahoma City’s premier big band orchestra, kicks off the first-ever Round Barn Spring Concert at the historic  Arcadia Round Barn on Route 66.

With a 17-piece orchestra, including four trombones, four trumpets, five saxophones, a rhythm section, and powerhouse vocalists, Talk of the Town blends jazz-pop, big band standards, and contemporary hits into an unforgettable performance. Expect everything from a high-energy rendition of “Get Your Kicks on Route 66” to Sinatra’s classic “New York, New York,” plus a few country favorites in honor of the barn’s rich Oklahoma heritage.

Talk of the Town will perform under the big elm tree on the grounds of the Round Barn, which features plenty of room for dancing.

Directed by Mike Darrah, a veteran trumpeter and flugelhorn player, the band features seven music educators from across the Oklahoma City metro. Vocalists Miranda Crawford and Eric Burger—the latter a former member of the U.S. Army Band who has toured with Ray Charles and Blood, Sweat & Tears—bring their own dynamic flair to the stage.

Originally formed in 1988 as a University of Oklahoma volunteer ensemble, Talk of the Town has grown into a top-tier big band orchestra, performing at events, parties, weddings, and major concerts across the region.
