Leon Delton Ginn, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, at the age of 86. A proud U.S. Army veteran, Leon lived a life of unwavering love, kindness, and quiet strength. His beloved wife, June, the love of his life and steadfast companion, was by his side, just as she had been throughout their 25 years of marriage. He was born on February 20, 1939, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.

Leon lived a life defined by service, dedication, and love for his family. From 1956 to 1959, he honorably served in the United States Army, entered Fort Ord, California, spent time at Fort Carson, Colorado, and was stationed in Germany. His time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of discipline, responsibility, and patriotism—qualities that remained with him throughout his life. Following his dedicated military service, Leon embraced a life of hard work and unwavering commitment to his family. He wore many hats throughout his career, serving as a Police Officer in Salinas, California, and later as the proud owner of a Texaco gas station. However, his greatest professional achievement was building Doc’s Towing and Transport from the ground up—a company he nurtured and grew for 42 years to provide for those he loved.

In 1988, he fulfilled a lifelong goal of owning a cattle ranch in Soledad, California. Working with cattle, hosting gatherings, and bringing family and friends together for brandings brought him immense joy. The ranch was more than just land; it was a place where laughter echoed, friendships flourished, and hard work was rewarded under the wide-open sky. He had a deep appreciation for the cowboy way of life, finding great pleasure in attending rodeos and cowboy poetry readings, where the rhythm of the words spoke to his soul. Leon’s passion for his work extended beyond his own business and ranch. As a longtime member of the California Trucking Association and the California Tow Truck Association, he earned numerous awards and served as Vice President. He was an active member of the Elks Lodge, a lifelong supporter of the NRA, and a proud member of the Monterey County Sheriff’s Posse, where he took great pride in giving back through charitable events. Leon and June retired to Luther, Oklahoma, in 2012.

Leon is survived by his wife, June Ginn; sister, Catherine DeBelle; children, Cliff Ginn, Shawn (Chris) Ginn, Terrie (Mike) Perrone; bonus children, Cindy Eastin, Audrey (Dale) Perry, Tim (Melanie) Stoddard, Angie (Michael) Burke, and Paul (Angela ) Harris. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Erbie and Gladys Ginn; brothers, Del Ginn, and Billy Clifton Ginn; stepson, Richard Stoddard, and grandson, Jeffrey Eastin.

His legacy of love, service, and dedication will live on in the hearts of his loved ones. Whether he was sharing stories (especially about Slim Pickens), lending a helping hand, or simply enjoying the peacefulness of his ranch, he left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Leon lived with purpose, integrity, and a deep sense of responsibility—not only to his family but also to the communities he served. His legacy of hard work, generosity, and unwavering devotion will continue to inspire all who knew him.
