Big news from the barbershop music scene! Locky, a dynamic quartet with solid ties to Luther, recently made waves at the Barbershop Harmony Society Southwestern District Fall Convention in Dallas. Competing against 28 quartets from across five states, Locky didn’t just hold their own—they walked away as the 2024 SWD Novice Quartet Champion and the 2024 SWD Northwest Division Quartet Champion! They also snagged an impressive Top 10 finish, placing 8th overall in the fierce competition.
Locky’s talent is homegrown, featuring Jerrod Davis (lead), a proud Luther resident. We also know Davis for his leadership as a Luther Town Board of Trustee member. Other members of the quartet include Kobe DeChurch (bass), Caleb Henderson (baritone), and Mark Winn (tenor). All four singers are members of the Oklahoma City Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society—also known as Vocal Sounds of Oklahoma—where Davis serves as treasurer on the chapter’s board.
“We’re beyond proud of Locky,” said Lester Claravall, president of Vocal Sounds of Oklahoma. “Their performances at district were outstanding and truly represented Oklahoma City on the big stage.”
Davis said they named their quartet “Locky” as a mashup of lucky “because all four of us are lucky to be singing together and lock, which refers to the lock and ring we strive for in barbershop harmony.”
Davis said joining Vocal Sounds of Oklahoma and forming Locky was a great way to get back into music.
“Being a part of the VSO chorus these last two years has been a way for me to unwind and rekindle a love for music and singing that I hadn’t nurtured since high school. Recently, forming and competing with Locky as a quartet has been such a great experience. I look forward to continuing to learn and get better with them,” said Davis, a senior biologist at the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.
Davis is married to Britni Davis, and they have two children, Teagan (8) and Tate (2).
