From the Metropolitan Library System
Summer Reading is Here!
Help us reach our community goal of 8 million points by reading and learning this summer!
Every summer for more than eighty years, the Metropolitan Library System has offered a Summer Reading program to keep kids and their families reading all summer long.
How do I Participate?
Sign in or register for an account on Beanstack (our online summer reading software) or visit your local library. You can login with your account information from previous years. If you are new to summer reading, you can create a login. If you would like to be eligible for prize drawings, please list your library card on your account when you sign up.
Register for this year’s program.
After creating a Beanstack account and signing in, you’ll need to register for this year’s Summer Reading Program (Tails and Tales). If you do not register, you cannot log reading, earn badges and prizes, or be eligible for prize drawings. You must register each year to participate in the current Summer Reading program.
Log reading minutes and activities to earn badges and prizes.
Earn 600 points to receive prizes (Two books or a Metro tote bag). No internet access? No problem! You can keep track of time spent reading and activities with our paper logs or visit your local library and staff can log minutes and activities for you.
Library Programs
The library will also be hosting a variety of virtual programs and take-home kits to celebrate this year’s theme, Tails and Tales. Below are a sampling of the programs and kits for June. Visit your local library for more information and to learn about other upcoming events. Registration is required for all programs due to limited space and supplies.
