The road to Stroud will be well worn by the end of the week. The Luther Lions traveled there for a regular Tuesday night game for an easy win and will return Thursday – Saturday, for the Route 66 Classic Tournament.

Syrus Grisby had 16 points and eleven rebounds against the Tigers. He remains the team’s leading scorer with a solid 16.7 points per game. Junior Cole Mills had seven points and four assists. Tyler Becker, Fred Greenhoward and Nick Hines had six points each. Gerald McCauley dropped in two points.
Final score: Luther 49, Stroud 30
The Lions return to Stroud Thursday to meet teams like the number 6 and number 14 ranked 4A teams Mannford and Seminole.

Coach Matt Jones said playing up in this tournament fits his strategy. He said he’d rather play tough teams instead of just focusing on the Lions’ win record. The Lions first game will be against Oklahoma Christian School Thursday at 5:40 p.m.
