With a combined grade point average of 3.464, the Luther Lions Football team and staff stepped on to the field as Academic Champions tonight. The group traveled to Owasso Thursday night to accept the award as 2A Academic Champs.
“It’s definitely a collective effort of parents, teachers and kids who made it possible,” said Principal Shawn Meek. “The coaches did a great job of reinforcing academics and checking on schoolwork weekly. I can’t brag enough on the team. We are very proud of them.”
In suits and ties, the team, coaching and student staffed traveled to the State 2A Football Championship to claim the award. Many parents and fans went along too to applaud the effort. And support academic achievement. The championship was moved up a day to work around the winter storm forecast.
Social media feeds were full Thursday evening of pictures capturing the event, with players posing with the trophy and getting group shots with their coaches, principal and superintendent. Here’s a gallery of some of the pictures. Thanks to the Moms who gave us a thumbs up to share them here.
