The squeak of the shoes, the stomps of the cheerleaders, the cheering of the fans. It’s basketball season in Luther, and the Lady Lions did not disappoint in their first game at home against the Meeker Bulldogs.
The team led by Head Coach Johnny Vick stayed ahead the whole game and came out with a huge 70-46 win against the Bulldogs. Senior Caitlin Bailey led the team with 20 points, while senior Lauren Coates and junior Raychel Stanfield followed right behind with 19 points each. In the first period, Stanfield stood out with a number of steals, one of which she returned with a layup.

In the second period, Coates jumped for a rebound and threw a long pass to Bailey and scored with a nice jump shot. Coates made big plays in the third period as well, snagging a rebound and putting it right back up, as well as many basket cut shots.
The Lady Lions played all the way to the last second, scoring 23 points in the fourth period. Their next game in Dale December 11 at 6:30 p.m.
