Volunteer Departments tend to grass fire

Mossy's Milk Soapery

When you’re driving home to your rural property and see smoke in the distance, there’s always that thought … “Is it my place?”

It came too close for comfort for a couple who just moved to the Shadow Ridge neighborhood less than a month ago. They drove up to see that a neighbor’s burn of some brush had caused a grass fire as the wind from the south kicked up. The fire started around 1 pm Sunday afternoon off Waterloo east of Dobbs but was contained with no structures damaged.

Volunteer fire departments from Woodcrest, Sooner, Meridian and Luther responded. They made quick work of the grass fire while neighbors with hoses sprayed down their yards with water, and also noted the wind speed and direction.
