No credible threat against Luther High School exists, according to Luther Police Chief David Randall. A statement released this morning said that interviews with the suspects who threatened to “shoot up Luther High School” led authorities to believe the incident was a hoax. Still, 18-year-old Kristian Flanigan could face charges.
Flanigan was picked up sometime Monday for questioning after federal authorities spent a weekend searching for him following he allegedly made threats against his former school on the social media platform, Snapchat.
Once federal authorities sat down with Flanigan and a female minor suspect, they determined the pair was not serious about its Snapchat threat. Nor did they have a plan or access to firearms, according to a statement released by the Town of Luther Wednesday morning. The statement said the “officers concluded the threat was a hoax.”
Still, Randall said he plans to pursue charges against Flanigan for making “terroristic threats.”
