You’ve driven by the bright banner on Hwy 66 just before the intersection to Ash. It’s advertising for this Saturday’s Craft Fair at Open Door Assembly of God – the building just north of the post office.
It’s a craft fair with a purpose, according to member Virginia Smith.
“In the last couple of years the church has really shifted our focus to become more community-driven. We developed a new vision statement of Finding Faith, Finding Friends, Finding Hope. With this in mind, we have focused our attention and drive towards finding ways to get to know our community better so we can serve them,” said Smith.
She said the first try at the Craft Fair last year was so successful, they are doing it again.
“We see it as an effort to reach out to our community with the love of Christ and to get to know our community better. We are also raising funds for a new sanctuary. Over the last three years we have made a lot of improvements in our current facility and the proceeds from the fair last year helped us to purchase new seating for our existing sanctuary.
“We know Luther is growing and we want to keep up with the expectations of that growth.”
Smith said they have more than 20 vendors.
- Hand-made crafts
- Candy
- Baked good
- Indian Tacos, BBQ, Turkey Legs and Funnel cakes
- Crafters featuring crochet, wreaths, glass bird feeders, art from local artists, jewelry, soaps and more.
- Home-based businesses including Avon, Mary Kay and Perfectly Posh (and more)!
There will even be a cat scratch post and dog treats for sale!
Smith reminds Luther shoppers that the event is great for meeting neighbors and getting a start on holiday shopping. Admission is free.
The Craft Fair is Saturday from 9am – 5pm.
