The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating two hanging deaths inside the Oklahoma County Jail. The OSBI reports that on Friday night, a jailer performing sight checks found inmate Joseph Carter Wilson (11/29/1985) hanging from the cell he occupied alone. The 30-year-old Wilson had been in jail since October 5, 2015, on numerous felony complaints including assault & battery with a dangerous weapon, indecent exposure, assault & battery on police officers, and plan to perform act of violence involving serous bodily injury. Wilson was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The OSBI reports it was also called to investigate another inmate hanging death from Sunday night. The OSBI says a jailer found Cody Joe McDonald (3/31/1988) hanging inside a cell he occupied alone at about 6:30 p.m. He was booked into the jail on May 11, 2016, on eight felony complaints which included drugs and weapons violations.
The OSBI says the medical examiner’s office will perform an autopsy on each inmate to make an official ruling on the cause and manner of these deaths.
