Luther Board of Education Chairman Aaron Bachhofer has resigned, as confirmed by Superintendent Sheldon Buxton in a brief statement:
I was notified by Aaron on Tuesday following the board meeting on Monday via e-mail. I have not submitted his letter of resignation to the board for their action at this point. I would have no comment regarding the events to follow until my board has formally acted, said Buxton.
Buxton replied to the Luther Register via email on Thursday morning.
Bachhofer’s term on the board would have expired this year. At last Monday’s board meeting, an item was approved to call for an annual school board election for Tuesday, February 9, 2016. The filing period for Board of Education candidates opens at 8 am, Monday, December 7 and closes at 5 pm, Wednesday, December 9, 2015.
Buxton did not comment on whether he will appoint a new board member to fill out the weeks remaining on Bachhofer’s term or when Bachhofer’s resignation is effective.
Efforts to reach Dr. Bachhofer, an associate dean in the Social Sciences Division at Rose State College, by email and phone have not been successful.
The video footage represents Bachhofer’s last action before his resignation the next day.
