REPORT YOU FIRE DESTRUCTION TO LUTHER FIRE DEPARTMENT
If you were affected by yesterday/last night’s fire please email firechief@townoflutherok.com
We have crews out today still hitting hot spots and assessing damages.
If your home was destroyed, first, I want to say that I am so sorry. I wish we could have done more, but with the conditions we were met with, it was an absolute nightmare scenario.
If your home was lost, please use the subject “home destroyed”
If you had any damage, please use the subject “damages”
If you are able to send pictures, please do so. We are working on getting an accurate count of yesterday’s disaster.
Chief Figueroa.
Luther Community Service Center
Chris Hill of the Luther Community Service Center, a ministry of the Church of Christ, says it will open at Saturday morning in the aftermath of Friday’s wildfires that swept through the area.
“We are available to help with immediate needs of water, food, clothes, hygiene supplies, and blankets. We will be assisting in other ways once we know better what people’s needs are,” said Chris Hill.
He said he’ll be there with Joe Caruthers to assist those with immediate needs. The center, located at 201 E First, next to the Luther Fire Department, will open at 9 a.m.
A note: this center is separate from the similarly named Luther Community Center at 18120 Hogback, where the American Red Cross temporary shelter is located.
Luther Fire Department Update
Saturday morning, the Luther Fire Department posted this:
Luther Fire Department Update:
“Fire crews are actively working to contain a large wildland fire. We ask all evacuated civilians to stay out of the area until we can mitigate hazards. Several burned structures are still on fire, and numerous powerlines are down, creating dangerous conditions.
Fire departments from across Oklahoma County have been working tirelessly through the night. The fire’s forward progression has been stopped, and crews are focused on extinguishing hotspots.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to ensure safety.”
