


After the two-week holiday break, the Luther Lions gym was packed once more for the Lady Lions’ first game of 2019. It was a tough battle against the number five ranked 3A Lady Crusaders of Christian Heritage Academy.

In the first half, the Lions trailed but never more than six points. But in the third quarter, the Crusaders scored 20 points to the Lions seven points. Final score: Crusaders 51; Lady Lions 34.

Top scorer for the Lady Lions was Senior Caitlin Bailey with 20. She also wowed on defense with six steals and tied with junior Raychel Stanfield in rebounds with four each. Stanfield scored six points, led in assists with five and two steals.
Other scorers were senior Lauren Coates, 5; junior Lindsay Kuhlman, 2; and junior Kennedy Cox, 1. The Lady Lions will play a single game in Stroud on January 8, and return for a weekend tournament.
