Looking back and looking forward. Here’s the latest podcast from Luther Lions Football Head Coach Zack Smith and Scott Mitchell of Mitchell Talks. They review the game against Prague and look forward to Homecoming on September 21. This Friday Night Lights represents Luther’s first district game.
Coach Smith said, “Everybody is zero and zero right now. It’s the only game that matters,” when it comes to district play.

Coach Smith and Mitchell break down last week’s game against Prague.
Even though the Lions have lost their first three games, each week has brought improvement and Coach Smith is optimistic.
“I expect a new game. We wont turn the ball over, that would be a breath of fresh air,” said Coach. He also praised Lions like Coleman Statsny.
“He’s our playmaker and the best athlete we have. He’s going to touch the ball 20 or 30 times a game,” said Coach Smith.

With rain in the forecast, Coach expects the field to be muddy. “It should be wet and sloppy. I expect a run game on Friday night. It’s supposed to rain a whole lot,” he said.
With the rain, a big crowd is expected with Homecoming festivities beginning at 6:30 before 7 pm kickoff.
Smith said a parent reminded the team recently that “You’ve got an entire community supporting you, put them on your back. Show your town you are doing it for them,” said Smith.
