The Lady Lions fastpitch softball team had a hard time hitting off the Dale Pirates’ pitcher in Monday’s doubleheader.
In the first inning of the first game, second base Lindsay Kuhlman, shortstop Gracie Tytenciz and left fielder Sydney Jones made outstanding fly ball catches.

In the second inning, Kuhlman made another great catch.
Brielle Whittaker out a right field caught a fly ball, and first base Hannah Trenary stopped a short bunt and tagged out the runner.
The game ended quickly as Dale run-ruled the Lions in the third inning by getting a home run.

In the second game, the Lions had a better hitting game but still couldn’t get any runners in. The first inning saw Kacie Bolner bunt a hard grounder to shortstop and make it to first base, but a messy and confusing next play had both Bolner and the next batter, Kennedy Cox, out on technicalities.
The catcher dropped Cox’s third out, and Cox made it to first base on the steal, but the umpire called her out, saying she couldn’t go to first with Bolner already there, even though she was already on her way to second for a steal.

The umpire also called Bolner out, saying she interfered with the fielder.
Jones hit a dinger to the left-center gap for a double in the second inning and made a brace steal to third base. She was left hanging, though, when the next batter got the third out.
Kuhlman had another impressive play in the field during the third inning, this time at third base. She snagged a fast grounder in between her and shortstop and got the batter out at first.
They lost both games 13-0 and 19-0. The Lady Lions will play another doubleheader Tuesday in Tonkawa at 4:30.
