Daybreak ends a long night in Luther. More official morning reports will come as meetings are held among the many agencies on the hunt for Michael Vance.
The short story is he is not in custody.
And Luther is safe this morning.
Luther Police Sgt. Mike Oliver took time this morning to post on social media.
Other friends on social media commented on the long night, being grateful for the extra patrols and “getting used” to the sound of helicopters overhead. Still, not much sleep.
Oklahoma County Sheriff John Whetsel said that federal authorities are taking over command. Today should bring more unified efforts, and we hope more communication with the public.
Incidentally, remember our neighbor Hollie Ahearn who was shot when Michael Vance allegedly shot her when stealing the Lincoln. She remains without a vehicle. And the bullet remains in her leg.
Looking to hear about security plans for the funeral on Friday.
Sgt. Oliver also responded on social media to citizens concerns about safety and looking ahead to public events – Friday night’s home football game, Monday night’s town Trick or Treating.
“We will not give up our normal lives for this coward. As law enforcement, we will do our best to ensure everybody’s safety.”
