Remembering Ron and Kay Wilkson

Luther friends and family of Ron and Kay Wilkson are in shock as news circulates they were the victims of a shooting at their home Sunday night. A town is mourning the Wilksons and anxious to help the family.

vanceThe suspect, Michael Vance, remains at large and was spotted in Sayre, at a Flying J Truckstop in Beckham County, in the west part of the state at 5:30 am Monday. Apparently another shooting was involved there. Earlier Sunday night, Vance allegedly shot two Wellston police officers before fleeing toward the Wilkson house. Another Wellston resident was also shot in an apparent carjacking. All of those victims have non-life threatening injuries. Vance is also said to be using an AK 47 and was wounded in the Wellston shooting.

Vance apparently fled the scene of the Wilkson’s home Sunday night after the shootings in their Mitsubishi vehicle.

Social media reports from family members say authorities were first called to the Wilkson home at 8:50 pm Sunday, and Mr. Wilkson made a call to a family member at 9:36 pm.  His body was found in the yard of their home, and Mrs. Wilkson was found inside. The news was confirmed about their deaths near midnight.

Kay Wilkson was a longtime and beloved waitress at Josephine’s Cafe.

Some parents are keeping their children home from school today, and keeping their loved ones close, while Vance remains at large.
