A first for Luther High School. The entire high school came together Monday afternoon to cheer on the Seniors on “Decision Day.”
Nearly 60 seniors individually took the stage to sign their “Letter of Intent” for post-graduate plans.
Oklahoma State University, Rose State College, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center, Oklahoma Baptist University, Oklahoma Christian University …
The Marine Corps …
The Army …
and the work force.

Classmates cheered on each individual as Counselor Angie Cox shared each graduate’s plans. She told the audience this journey for the students began when Luther Schools received a Gear Up grant to help prepare students for their future.
She said beginning when this group was in eighth grade, they began touring colleges including East Central University, where she remembers the students LOVED the all-you-can-eat cafeteria. Other college visits through the years included Oklahoma City Community College, Rose State College, University of Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University.
Beginning in January of this year, she and other LHS faculty and staff helped students with financial aid packages (when the FAFSA is due), and helped them compete for scholarship after scholarship (after scholarship!). She described the anticipation, “a little bit of stress” and the excitement as the Letters of Acceptance started rolling in. And, she teased a few students who are still deciding.
Congratulations Luther Seniors!
