Spring Fling: Luther’s Route 66 Town-Wide Yard Sales

One person’s hidden gem is another’s perfect find — celebrate spring cleaning, shop local, and join the Mother Road’s 100th birthday party! The Luther Business Alliance, a new group working to promote our town, is organizing this event, the first one of 2026 with more to come.

This event encourages everyone to clean out, declutter, and turn your forgotten and no longer used items into treasures while drawing visitors along Historic Route 66 during its big centennial year.

Key Event Details

How to Find Sales: We’ll create a Master Map (digital + printed) highlighting all participating locations — perfect for treasure hunters driving the Mother Road!

Date: Saturday, March 28, 2026
Time: 9 AM – 1 PM on Main Street (home/business sellers set their own hours)
Sponsored by: Luther Business Alliance — a new collaborative group inviting all local businesses to join! Our mission: Create more reasons to “follow the arrow” to Visit Luther, support local shopping, and host fun community events.

Options to Participate:

  • Reserve a prime 10×10 space on Main Street (limited availability
  • Host your own yard/garage sale at your home or business anywhere within ~15 miles of Luther town limits (get listed on our Master Map!)

Registration Fee: $10 (covers your sale permit + helps fund marketing, maps, signage, and event management by the Luther Business Alliance)

NOTE: Main Street Yard Sale hours are 9 am – 1 pm. Set up for MAIN STREET begins at 7 am. The street will be closed to thru-traffic, between SW Second and East First. We ask you remove your vehicle from Main Street by 8:30 am. Sales at homes or business may set their own hours for the March 28 sale.
We know Yard Sale afficiondos start early! You might want to open earlier than 9 am, and please do. However, for the safety/security and to limit the time of street closure from SW Second to East First, the sale hours on Main Street will be 9 am – 1 pm, to allow vendors time for setup the morning of March 28 beginning at 7 am. All Main Street vendor spots must be ready, and vehicles cleared by 8:30 am.
Examples: tools, vintage clothes, dishware, kids’ toys, furniture, Route 66 memorabilia
Agreement
“I agree to the $10 registration fee (covers permit & marketing). I understand spaces are limited and assigned first-come, first-served on Main Street, and I agree to hold my sale at my home or business within town limits, in conjuction with this town-wide event.
Payment
I agree to pay the $10 application fee on the day of the sale at the Registration Booth on Main Street, or at CD Harris Designs, 122 S Main.

  1. I can’t find a website or a LinkedIn profile or any information at the Secretary of State’s website about a “Luther Business Alliance”. Typical Luther.

    1. Hey Grinchie! Thanks for helping out with that research! So far, LBA has zero money, we’ve been using our own. If you want to come to the next LBA meeting, usually at Chicos, come join us and help do the easy process to register with Sec of State. Maybe share why LinkedIn would be advantagous too, I can’t think of why, really. Typical Luther … folks trying and trying again.
