Famed barbecue champion and restaurateur Levi Bouska of Wellston’s Butcher BBQ Stand is making his burger dreams come true in Luther, Oklahoma! A Tuesday social media announcement made it official. He’s bringing a burger concept to the former location of Cocina Doña Ceci, at 204 N Ash, at the gateway to Luther’s downtown area and a straight shot to Route 66.
Called “Flip Side,” renovations are underway to open as soon as possible. Maybe even for a sneak peek during the Luther Pecan Festival on November 8 – 9? Levi makes no promises, but it’s a good goal.
The location has been home to some of the most classic restaurants in town. It was the Sugar Shaker for many years, and it was a Mexican and BBQ restaurant before Chris Nevarez bought it in 2022 to share his mother’s recipes with a loyal hometown crowd.
Levi was a street taco regular at Chris’s restaurant, so he knows the potential for the location to bring his concept to life.
“I’ve looked at probably a dozen locations all around the OKC metro, and I just didn’t jive with the landlords,” said Levi. “In my eyes, a landlord is just as important as the location. When you do business with someone, you have to have a good relationship with that person, and I couldn’t have asked for a better person to do business with than Chris himself.”
Interior work is in progress, and exterior work happens next. No doubt the burger-forward menu is being tested.
“I’ve been wanting to do this for a really long time. Here’s the next journey, you know!”
