Propane: Powering Everyday Life
- In Homes: Propane fuels heating, cooling, water heaters, cooking, refrigeration, clothes drying, barbecues, lighting, and cozy gas fireplaces.
- On the Road: As the world’s most widely used alternative fuel, propane powers nearly 4 million vehicles globally, including over 350,000 in the U.S., per the U.S. Department of Energy’s Alternative Fuels Data Center.
- For recreation, portable and clean, propane is a favorite among RV owners and campers.
- On Farms: Over 660,000 farms rely on propane for crop drying, flame cultivation, fruit ripening, heating, refrigeration, and running farm engines.
- In Business: More than 1 million commercial sites—like hotels and restaurants—and 350,000 industrial sites use propane for heating, cooking, and specialized tasks like brazing, soldering, and manufacturing plastics.
