Incarcertated Dads Graduate from Fatherhood Program

(DEPT OF CORRECTIONS NEWS RELEASE) HOLDENVILLE, Okla. – A group of incarcerated fathers at Allen Gamble Correctional Center in Holdenville, Okla., recently marked a significant milestone: graduating from the facility’s first-ever fatherhood program.

Clad in dress clothes and brimming with pride, the men walked across the stage, not only looking like fathers but striving to embody the values of one. Over the past several months, the participants have committed themselves to a transformative journey – one aimed at redefining their identities and preparing them to be better men and fathers.

“You have to be at least a good man to be a great father, and that’s what we believe we’re building – fathers and great men in here,” one participant said.

The program focused on helping the men develop integrity, responsibility, and emotional maturity—qualities essential to successful fatherhood. Through coursework, discussions, and mentorship, the graduates embraced the challenge of growth and self-reflection.

“Feels great,” another participant said. “I’m proud of us.”

The class marks a broader effort by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections to equip incarcerated individuals with the tools they need to break cycles, rebuild family bonds, and prepare for successful reentry into their communities.

The department hopes to expand the program to additional facilities statewide, continuing its mission to rehabilitate and restore lives – one father at a time.
